Wayward Arts

Wayward Arts is a magazine created to inspire and showcase the work of Canadian graphic designers. A different design firm is invited to produce each issue, and is given complete creative freedom – there are no constraints on the layout, colour, images, type or paper. The single “constraint” is the set theme: each designer must find a way to interpret that theme in their issue. Signals was selected to create an issue of Wayward Arts on the theme of “obsession.” We decided to invite some of North America’s best illustrators and photographers to work with us on the issue, but first we had to develop our take on the “obsession” theme.

We found our approach in the obscure Internet chat rooms where people confess some of their strangest obsessions online.
